"The miracle isn't that I finished. It is that I had the courage to start." - Quote by John "Penguin" Bingham
Well, this is what is wrong with running today. I had no idea who had said this quote.. but a recently a "friend" was bragging about completing a marathon. I asked the time, which was 5 hours... then someone asked me if I had run a marathon and I said "no, well I'm a mid-distance runner." Apparently they think 5 hours is better than a 4:10 mile.
Anyway, they kept quoting this, saying that they were so great for running a marathon.. and described how it was "easy at first" but then you had to push it through.. and even started giving ME tips on running etc. And the quote kept coming up again and again.
Well I finally looked up that quote to see who the jack*ss who came up with it was, and I saw this John Bingham dude.. don't know much about him except that he is not liked by Letsrun and in the same likes of Dean K., Jeff "gallowalking" Galloway, etc.
Anyway, this is what is wrong with running!! It is stupid to be like "Oh I'm amazing for FINISHING a marathon." Who cares???? Go run a competitive time and get back to me!!! Sheesh!
