Nike had at least eight pro athletes out on the course from my count. Both Gouchers, Solinsky, Teg, Abdi, Flanagan, Rowbury and Webb. I am sure there was one more since there were nine regions.

Two words: publicity stunt. Nike is known for such cheap tactics. But they couldn't even chip off something for the woman who won their marathon in SF, so Reebok took the opportunity and stepped in.

I thought kenyans were faster then that 15:50?

I questioned, on dyestat, the - how should I put this? - nature or purpose of the Kenyans participation at NXN. I was basically told to shut up and eat my spinach. ;-)

Quit Bitching and STOP WRITING IN ALL CAPS! Of course they are not going to run the Kenyan team in the team race, it is the national high school championship.

I was at the race and something really funny happened with the scoring or this was the greatest cross country comeback in the history of high school cross country. Spokane got off to a great (too fast) and they started dropping off the scoreboard. At the 4k they were not even in the top 5. Does anyone know what happened? I suspect that one of the runners lost the chip from their shoe so they didn't get counted until the very end. The other possibily was that Spokane's small pack of three ran a 4:20 mile pace for the last 1000m (I doubt it).

Does anyone know where we can find the splits for every runner on the course?

goes to show how great illinois xc really is....to bad the "at large" picks suck so BAD!....anyone that knows anything about the illinois XC knows that the 3rd and 4th teams at state this year would have been in the top 12 at NXN final!

....year in and year out I would but illinois top five teams against any state in the nation!...five vs five! and it would be no contest!....but cali and NY are bigger so they must be better right?..wrong!.....but to be honest that team from Indiana probably was screwed the most!....NXN should get rid of the "at large picks" because they really suck bad it!....

they didn't filter out the individual runners in the team scoring thru the first 4K. North Spokane has a very strong 1 thru 4. But their #5 was behind many of the individual runners. When they cut the non-affiliated runners out at the end, the artificially low North Spokane team score moved back to its real position.

They just need to have real team scoring during the race.

That's not true, Nike sent her a bunch of gear, they just didn't issue a press release tooting their own horn (which I must admit is out of character for Nike).

NXN was sorta boring again. FL should be much better next week.

Huh ???? is that true ? Did Reebok pay the winner of that marathon that Nike refused to pay ?

Alot of them won't make any trips after that because of body changes, etc.

So enjoy the moment with them.

Why the hell did NTN change to NXN and start having individuals? This was supposed to be the TEAM championships and Foot Locker is supposed to be the individual championships. I don't get this move.

Nike wants to compete with FL to have the bigger of the two national meets. I figured that was pretty obvious...

Many top teams have top individuals... why make them choose between the two? It just makes sense to have the meets combined.
