So I had a few calls from colleges nothing special really as they are all division III private colleges. Anyway, How do you break up with these college coaches calling u and such? I already narrowed it down to two schools. Southern Illinois Carbondale and Mizzou. I'm expecting a call later today and I'm afraid of what to say. Plz be serious Thanks.

Caller ID. Just do not answer. No rule says that when the phone rings you have to answer it (talking personal here, not work).
Not answering the phone is a good start.

This is the best advice. Be polite. After this, just don't take the calls anymore.
Are you guys really that scared to talk to someone? Just answer the phone and talk to the guy, say, "I am not interesting in your school." You aren't going to make him cry.
Many coaches invest a lot of time into recruiting and my from experience helping out my college coach with this the besides telling that you are coming to their school next year, the next best thing you can tell them is that you are not. I'm sure the coach will appreciate that you were up front because it will allow them to invest that time elsewhere to improve their team.
Are you sure you are not a Joanne Smith? Most men would not find this difficult. Honesty, maybe?
It was hard for me to do this for a couple of coaches as well. Just be very polite and say thank you so much for your interest, your school and program seem great but I've determined such and such school is really my top choice.

Wow, I wish I had your problem. I was never contacted by ANYONE (not even the mediocre local colleges) in high school. In all seriousness, I would simply say something like "Hey, thanks a lot for recruiting and showing interest in me, but I decided that I will not be attending your school. I hope there aren't any hard feelings." I hope this helps.

As a college coach, this is why I don't make phone calls (I have spoke about 10 minutes on the phone this year).
When I was being recruited, I couldn't stand the calls after awhile and found it hard to tell coaches I wasn't interested. Some high schoolers just don't have the confidence to inform the coaches that they aren't interested.
Just let the coaches know as soon as you can talk to them that you are looking elsewhere and that you appreciate them recruiting you. Wish the good luck and be on your way. End it on good terms.
I've never understood why this is so difficult. Let's look at the other side.
40 something college coach spends many hours many nights talking about the school/team to tens if not hundreds of 18 yr olds.
If one the 18 yr olds KNOWS they have no interest in the college the 18 yr is doing the coach a HUGE favor by telling him.
That way the 40 yr old has one less call to make to an 18 yr old.
Again, be polite and be done.
You are right about it not being that big of a deal to some but there are many nervous high schoolers out there that think they would be hurting the coaches feelings. Obviously on the flipside, the coach would prefer to know as early as possible that you are not interested. As an adult now, it is easy for me to tell someone who it is as I know how the world works but many high schoolers don't.
Just my input from someone who was on both sides of the situation.
