JC National Championships

Of course they're good. They're 22+ year old men and women who are already great runners. Hardly any coaching is needed at the JC level.

Look at the team that won the men's side. They were not a bunch of Kenyans like most.

The team that won is a bunch of 21 year old mormans.

The coach is Mormon but I don't think any one on the mens team is Mormon. This just proves that you dont have to buy your team from east africa to win.

So you say that ALL international runners are better then USA runners???? I say go USA!!

The kid who won the mens race is 19 years old, so I guess you know what your talking about. It is ok though we love to bash Kenyans and JUCO's on this site.

That is very negative of you my friend. The team that won is full of kids that are red blooded Americans and 1 or 2 years out of high school. So...there is not one person on that team that is over the age of 20. Also, almost all of the guys are from Arizona. There are two guys on there that are from Nevada. The fact is, Coach David Barney is one of the best coaches in the united states. He takes a group of good runners and makes them great. And Yes, you do not need Africans to win.

The NCAA Div. 1 Southern Conference meet was held on the same course a week earlier.

The SoCon ran a shorter course. I know, because I fixed the shortcuts that were used for that meet to make it an accurate 8K for the NJCAA.

I ran in juco for 2 years and everybody ranges from 18 to 22.. They don't get much older than that except for a couple of guys.. Some kenyans a few mormons that are out of shape cause they were on their 2 year misson.

And you can't be stacked with Kenyans at the JC level. You can only run 2 of them at the Regional and National Level anyways for XC and 1 for the Half Marathon. Then for indoors and outdoors you can only have 7.

Wrong. The limit is for foreigners "on scholarship."

Iowa Central CC, for example, has these men on its XC roster:

Abdesalam Ali, Sudan

Stephen Dak, Sudan

Titus Kiplimo, Kenya

Liberio Niyiragira, Burundi

Eddie Niyonizigiye, Burundi

Wol Nymun, Sudan

Cosmas Sang, Kenya

Joshua Sawe, Kenya

Wrong Again, the others have "green cards" and yes they are on scholarship. Green Cards are US Citizens in the NJCAA system.

Look at the njcaa citizenship report. only kiplimo, sawe and sang are true international students on scholarship who were brought in from kenya to run on their team. pf that only sawe and kiplimo ran at nationals. ali, dak, nymun and niyonizigiye are refugees of another country who have been in the us for at least four years, attended iowa high schools and were EASILY recruitable by every other juco or college/university in the nation. they have green cards, are permanent residents of the united states, and qualify for federal financial aid just like your native born smc kids. You just got out recruited then. plus, iowa central was audited by the njcaa and cleared within days.

Not bitter at all. Pointing out that when people see photos of teams like Central Iowa they think they are all Kenyans as they don't resemble African-Americans.

This team is definitely foreign-born.

And it's hard to get "out-recruited" when you're not recruiting the same kids.

Why dont they allow california in this meet? There has to be a way that either california could start sooner or the njcaa could wait a little longer for California to be in the meet. What was it that made California and the njcaa seperate? Would some of the California team be able to hang with these guys?

California and the Oregon/Washington schools split off into their own divisions.

The reason?

Money. It cost too much to travel.

It would be awesome to have one huge meet.
