1. K, completely dominating the toughest conference
2. Who Knows, although I see German in a Ritz-ish scenario.
3. Who Knows.

German would still be a Sr in HS if not a HS'er in california and a few other select states. Being Born in November, and being in one of the very few states that have a december cut off (most have sept of oct) allowed him to be a grade ahead of where most others would be in in the rest of the country. This makes what he has done that much more impressive as he just turned 18 during his freshman year in college. It's refreshing to see a superstar not only be of age, but be of a younger age then most. It seems we're always arguing about how the star is a year old then everyone else in their grade.
That said Kendra is about 210 days older. I know that's not a massive amount of difference. But at this stage in their career, for a male runner that's a lot of time for improvement.
I know care, Kendra is the best in the nation right now and German isn't. So Kendra wins hands down.

That's highly debatable. Not to mention it's debatable whether she is better then every HS runner in the nation. I for one am not ready to give Kendra the nod over Kipyego who is a far superior runner.
they were both born in the same year. the days younger doesnt matter.

Actually it does. Give Kendra a freeze in time right now, and let German train another 210 days, and tell me it doesn't matter. 210 days at the age of 18 is HUGE for a male.

Mrr82 is right. You're basically saying almost your entire freshman year doesn't matter and that you won't make any improvements. Fernandez should just stop training and skip ahead to his soph year, because 210 days of training in college won't make any difference.
The question is "Who is a better FRESHMAN?", not "Who is better for their current age?"
Kendra gets it. And if you don't think that now, you will 2 weeks from now.
yea guys come on, not to mention she's a hot female too. two runners of the same caliber of course I'm gonna pick the hot female.

mrr82 - you really have to stop posting on these boards, or get an education, because your stupidity is beginning to show. Only an idiot like you would worry about someone being days older.
Secondly, the thread is really silly anyway. These are BOTH fantastic freshmen, who hopefully will have terrific careers. But NOBODY can predict the course of events. Injuries, which German has already a reputation for, can happen to anyone at anytime. Kendra has to be careful (according to some) not to lose too much weight.
It's threads like this that show how infantile some Americans can be - like who really cares who is "better" or might have a more successful career. It's not like they are direct competitors of each other anyway.

Exactly, and age is a factor in deciding that. Some of you aren't very bright. How fast you are is only one factor. While i agree the age difference isn't a lot, German is still a very young freshman, as Mrr82 stated he would still be in HS in about 90% of the states in America. To me that makes him just that more impressive what he has done, and is def a factor in deciding the best Freshman. If there wsa a 25 year old freshman age would definitely be being discussed. being a year ahead virtually is not as extreme, but it does matter.
My GOD!
He just said, the question was "Who is the better freshman?"
Age has NO relevance to that question.
If the question had been "Who is better for their age?" or "Who is the better freshman for their age?", age would be a factor, but it isn't.
So either revise the original question, or approach the initial question from a straight up comparison, age having no relevance.
I can't believe I just wasted two minutes explaining the "complexities" of the english language to you morons.

Sorry the question had three parts. I can't believe you weren't able to read the whole first post and then criticize others. And the age does matter for the next two questions. Better longer term and more NCAA titles. Him being younger means there's more of a chance for big jumps in improved. This improvement could translate to a better runner and next year a lot more NCAA for German. I can't believe I had to explain the importance of reading to you.
they're both 1990s... stop jumping on German's sack, yes he's amazing but come on.. argue his merit as opposed to where he might be if he were 210 days older. If German was 210 days older wouldn't he be a sophomore?

Actually, there were three questions, of which two contain relevance to his age.
No, that's the point dillweed.

What's the difference between the JR record in the mile in HSand the Sr record? What's the difference between the records for a sr in hs, and for freshman in college? 7 months is a long time at that age. was the 300 days between when Dathan ran 1344 fully peaked, and 1327 unpeaked irrelevant? Or the 300 days between Matt Withrows 1413 and 1335? Full seasons at that point in your developement are huge.
I could give a 100 examples of drastic improvement made by one athlete over a summer at that age, let alone 7 months. It's extremely relevant, and as a few other posters pointed out, the original poster posed 3 questions, not 1, of which makes age very relevant.
