Is it dangerous to run a 5K road race in cross-country racing shoes? I'm thinking about running in a road 5K but I don't have any road-racing shoes and I'd rather not shell out $50 or so for something that I'm only going to use once a year. I have a pair of Asics Hyper XC's and I was wondering if it would be okay to use those instead. If not, I'll just race in my trainers.
Has anyone tried a road race in cross-country shoes and, if so, what were the results with respect to injuries?
