3 at miles 7, 14, 21.

I use GU chocolate flavored. Miles 10, 15, 20 for the GU. I start taking in Gatorade and water at mile 6 or 8. Not much liquid, but enough. Then by mile 22-23, there is no point to take anything more. It takes too long to kick in to be worthwhile.
Whats your longest race that doesn't require you to use goo to perform well?
Take goo at every other mile after that distance for the same amount of distance then hold off for 2 miles and continue again.
Don't take more than 15 :D
And take off those shoes and let your real feet propell you.
I do one every 40 minutes (6 miles) and start using the ones with caffeine at the 18/20 mile mark.
5-15 min before the start and every 30-45 min after the start for me.
