I love the fact that they put a drug cheat in the hall of fame. I suppose Regina Jacobs will be invited some day too since she is such a great role model for women or so she says.

Is it proven that Decker/Slaney was on drugs or didnt she just go to court? I am not sure so if you know, or could give me a link about it that would be great. I do agree that its BS that cheaters get put in the HOF, it ruins it for everyone else
at least she has accolades
there was a big thread about Larry James on the TF&N board
there are two athletes (Otis Davis, and the real Bill Carr) that won the 400 and the 4x400 at the Olympics AND set world records in both events while competing at the Olympics and they have not been placed in the HOF. The third athlete, Lee Evans, is already in.
Larry James, while a tremendous athlete, was given the gift of Mexico City Altitude. I can see Larrabee because of his passing (it was time to put him in) and his great comeback story. But James . . . . uh, yeah, I guess.
We'll never know the real story with Slaney, but we do know how fiercely competitive she was with the Eastern Europeans who WERE proven drug cheats.
This is just one link that discusses her case. Mary Decker was suspended for two years by IAAF but USA/TF did not carry out the same sanctions. But we now know how dirty USA/TF is with positive tested atheletes.
Mary appealed the guilty decision and won... a court labeled the testosterone test that IAAF used as "vague" and unreliable... IAAF then appealed that decision and had it reversed. Mary continues to sue in the courts, but all her suits have been thrown out. So, at this point she's guilty as charged.
