If they are running that pace, they will be running all alone. There is nobody close to that pace in the elite start, and the elites start 5 min. before the rest of the field.

2:35 perhaps...but 2:25 is a HUGE stretch! 2:25 for Shalene or Kara would be even a tad of a stretch, and nothing against Gomez, she just isn't at that level.

i almost always predict (or hope would probably be the correct word) times that are too fast. i hope everyone surpasses their time goals.

does it make any sense why snyder with a 221 pr is starting 5 min ahead of pelletier who has a much faster pr? Snyder and raneu will be running solo from the elite start they would be better off in the open race.

You're right, it doesn't make sense that the Hanson guys will have the headstart over Matty, but thats the way it works. I'm sure he will do just fine from the Top 100 corral anyway.

According to athleicore Snyder is hurt. It looks like Reneau will be ready to go 2:15. It also looks like Desiree is ready to go sub 2:30. Although much like TC, weather will probably be the story.

I agree with your opinion.I think one of the two will be over 2:20 and the other just under.

I agree with both of you (Say what on those Hanson guys? and harrywilliams).

I doubt more than one of them will break 2:20 A 2:17 plus at best. They are not 2:13 marathoners and probably will never be such. Just because someone joins the team and runs for awhile, people think putting on a team uniform or running for such and such team will produce great results. Not to me. They are as many others have said, way overrated. Besides Sell, there are no real contenders on the team. 2:15 doesn't cut the mustard. It's a start, but you gotta improve sooner or later or move on.

If Clint Verran breaks 2:15 at the Detroit Marathon, I will eat crow too, as the poster claimed that Mr. Virgin said about Alberto's 2:10 in 1980. As others have said, he is not going to get close to Greg Meyers 2:13:07 from the 80's. Move on dude, it's over.

Snyder is injured. He hasn't run much in the last 2 weeks. Whether he starts the race and tries to tough it out relying on the fact that he got the bulk of the work in, I don't know.

I also heard that Reneau may start from the top 100 corral, which I think would be a better shot for him. I don't know if I'd say 2:13, but if he has some company, I think he's very capable of 2:15
