10-12 mph winds in chicago called for race weekend. Is that going to be noticable? will this slow down the leaders. other than that the weather is 45 low 65 high.. which is about perfect.

Don't bother checking the forecast until Friday. Trying to predict the wind speed in Chicago one week in advance is silly.
I don't know about the windspeed, but Chicago's the only place I've lived that I could run a loop course and have a headwind in all four directions that I ran...
Looks breezy with a chance of rain...but agree that it isn't worth worrying about too much until Friday or Saturday.
sounds good. I like the logic. I'll bump the post friday or saturday

did you just say "silly" hahahahaha
I have a question not having to do with the weather. Does anyone know how many runners start in the elite wave that goes off 5 minutes before the race? My guess is the 10-15 men and 10-15 women that are mentioned in the press release. ???
Don't let the wind bother run. Paula ran 2:17 on a day it was windy as hell.
Odds are that will be it.
As for the weather, they might use cloud seeding, so there may not be any rain race day. You will not know until the day of.
Also, forecasts are not that reliable. It is 65 degrees +/- 30 degrees. When there is a 20% chance of rain, that means that there is at least a 20% chance that it is raining somewhere in the world... If they say sunshine, it means the sun is up, it just might be blocked by clouds.
Good race everyone!!
The race is in Chicago, not China. They won't be seeding clouds to prevent rain on race day!

i just hope they let my favorite runner bezunesh bekele start with the elites. GO BEZUNESH
Could be 0, 10, 20, or 40mph going up Michigan Ave the last 3 miles. If it's windy you will slow by at least 30 seconds..:)
I've run it twice and the wind is always there...somewhere...last time, 2006, went from 5:50/6:00 pace to 6:30 pace as I turned onto Michigan Ave the last 3-4 miles.
Have fun!

Don't bother checking the forecast, period. It will be what it will be. You will all be facing the same weather.
