Who are the best programs in D1 and what do they bring to the table
Villanova - tradition and coaching
Michigan- Coaching that makes olympians
Northern Iowa, home of national champion Tyler Mulder and a few other 1:50 guys.
Two time national champ Ryan Brown trains and helps coach at UW. Also, Austin Abbot, Brian Govier, and Charlie Williams are legit mid distance guys. Plus, 4 girls in the 1500 US oly trials.
Gotta say Texas.

Yeah, but they just lost their coach this summer. Hopefully they won't lose a stride.

Give me a break. Austin Abbot is legit, but Govier and Williams? Has either gone sub 3:50? 1:50? UW has quite the reputation of taking talent-- of which they get tons-- and turning it into mediocrity. Its simply not the place to develop as a runner.
American -- Centro
I hear Oregon is Ok?
screw centro. I ran against his athletes, coach K donner made me a 1:52 guy from a 2:01 high schooler, no way centro would do that, he tool 1:53 guys and made them 1:49-1:52 guys, whoop de doo da.....
took. he took those good athletes and made them marginally better is my point, sorry my grammar isnt that good. Sorry this is the drunk letsruncheck before i go to bed...
night centro is overrated agree people!! (the father) the son is sicknasty.
bump for response about UW guys' PRs, and a statement showing how they have progressed since h.s.
Okay, charlie williams ran 4:10 in high school for 1600 and ran 4:06 last year indoors for a full mile? Ran 1:53 in high school and 1:51 last year?
Centro is hardly overrated.
Just to make a few points:
Dustin Emrani- 1:56 high school, 1:47 college
Sean Duffy- 4:10 high school, 3:38.4 college 1500m
Alex Caudana- 1:57 high school- 1:51 college
Steve Hallinan- 4:12 high school- 3:44 college 1500
Carlos Jamieson- 4:17-18? high school- 3:42 1500 last year
Conor Lanz- 4:27 high school- 3:47 college 1500
The only people who think centro are overrated are the guys who weren't tough enough to make it in his program.
Cornell seems to do a consistently good job of developing mid-dist people--men and women.
Columbia has also had a lot of success with its mid-distance guys in recent years.

The way the guys under centro have progressed (see the post below yours) is the mark of a good coach. The way the UW guys progress is the mark of good talent, and mediocre coaching. Admit it, the system at UW sucks.
UVa in three years.
Vig, quit trying to hype yourself on these boards!
