Ok, first of all, if you want to rip on the NAIA, please go to another post. This guy is tough. Yes, he is 28, but he is still running some impressive races. 24:42 (2nd place Nolan Taylor - Minot St, a 9:06 steeple chaser ran 25:24) in this weather!! Check out this picture, 2nd isn't even visable. I don't think anyone can hang with him at Nationals.

Sorry, he is actually 27. Born Sept 4 1976. My bad. Either way, some people will bitch that he shouldn't be racing college guys, but in the NAIA age doesn't matter, and this guy has won some pretty big races.
My bad, as well--I thought he was just a couple months older than me instead of a full year. I agree, his race experience at Griak, banging heads with Marney, Bishop, and McDaniel (teammates) for years, going to the line against the Tighe Bros. from Minot, and all his national level experience in XC and track, just helps his preparation for tomorrow's race. I just hope there isn't a Kenyan who comes from nowhere to spoil his last dance.
I agree, he deserves to win. The poor guy has gone through a lot. 02 Indoor Nationals, colapsed a lung running the 5k, only ran the Marathon at Outdoor and got 3rd (I think,not sure on the place). Last year XC outleaned by a Kenyan for the Championship, 03 Indoor, tendonitis in his Knee after running 8:23 at altitude. He deserves to win a big one.
Dennis Newell will run 24:26 and win by 13 seconds. I think.
That picture is kick ass. That is some hardcore running and I love the path that has been cleared. Where was this at? I actualy miss running in stuff like that, it adds a new challenge to the feeble minded that have to have perfect conditions to race.
Jamestown, ND. I heard it was in the mid to low 20s and windy. Those races test the manhood!
Just wondering, are you guys that have been replying to this thread from NAIA schools? I ran for Southwestern College in KS. Graduated in 2000.
The temperature at Jamestown was 7 degrees, but there was a 10-15 mph wind. Figure the windchill in and it felt like 0 or a little below. My penis froze in the race.
I to hope that Dennis wins nats. As a friend though I know that he really does not like to be talked about. So lets just let this rest till after the race. Hunt what is your name.

Note how close his competitors are in that photo, and this is a pretty tough conference. Should be a heck of a dual between him and Josephat.
Dennis is a good kid. He works hard all year and ha sthe desire to be his best. I wish him good luck and hope he has fun. He still needs a haircut and shave. At least his facial hair is much better than Brineys!
