Renato wants to ignore the drug issue. Why? If you accept his explanation it's because he wants his athletes to believe that only hard work and talent produce top results; and because focusing on the drug use of others only serves as a distraction and confusion to the task at hand, which is working hard to improve and perform competitively.
Renato has been around a long time and has seen many things. He knows that there is drug use. He's no fool. Perhaps he regards drugs as tools of the trade, or perhaps he regards them as surmountable if the athlete's talent and drive are large enough. I hope it's the latter.
But either way his remarks are valuable because he is working with athletes at the top of the game. He does have identified work that will promote fast distance running. The ideas and training that he expresses are not unique, but they are well founded in experience and knowledge. They are the real stuff: very potent information.
If he would tell 1/2 of what he knows, it would be ten times worth the listening. And I say this not even liking the cyberspace guy.

If you think any charges of drug use are unfounded, you know nothing of the sport.
Renato no doubt knows a lot about drugs. A lot. That he plays dumb here, is in so much denial, says a lot.
Maybe he's just not heard of you.

perspective, that was a very good post until the last paragraph. Renato puts a huge amount of time and thought into his work. He has posted a lot of information on this website, he simply does not have the time or the inclination to discuss drug stories and allegations.
Have you met Renato? why don't you like the guy?
