It seems like the course was 250-400 meters long. Anyone else notice this? The winning time by Kosgey of Williams was 26:35 and this isnt the slowest course out there it was at least a minute slow

Don't know if it was, but how could someone f*** up one of the most run courses in the North East?

There's construction within the park on the flats.
maybe its not the course and maybe you and your team sucked today
no im not talking about me and my team im taking about the entire field.
In addition to the course construction that is going on, it had rained the night before and there was a dew point somewhere between 75 and 77 when the gun went off for the races. Quite a few teams skipped the race expecting VCP to be turned into a mud put and instead managed to avoid a saturation level that seems to have left the entire field devastated. A lot of guys were blowing up because the sweat just wasn't coming off at a reasonable rate. Times were slower across the board including the women.
Yea, it was a sauna yesterday when the races started. I saw a lot of guys drop out around 5 Km, tough day for a season opener. I don't think the course was long either because of the new starting line area.
Who cares. If you want to know how fast you are running, go to the track. You run cross country races for the place and the team. The only time that is important is how much you lose the race by. No course will be the same and the footing is never the same even on the same course. Stop worrying about time and just run races.
