He won by .63. I doubt every runner goes all out when they don't need to.
If he wasn't going to get a WR, then what's the point of pushing it all out? Is it much better to win by .73 than .63?
Well, he ONLY tied the meet record, so maybe one extra hundreth would have been nice...other than that, oh well, another impressive run.

He's a sprinter, there is no reason not to go all out at a point in the season when you should be at your peak. It is much better to win by .73 than .63, if it means you did your best.

He's run 9.74 before and now with the Olympics over he's in great shape AND able to run loose--like that time in a prelim when he ran 9.74.
I'm not saying he's not doped. I'm just saying, this isn't surprising.
OP--what significance does "the first 19.5" have if Bolt and MJ have gone 19.3 and 19.32?
holy shi@!!!! oliver with a 13:02? wowowoowwo!
Who is David Oliver, and where did he come from?

Bolt and MJ have gone 19.3 and 19.32 yes, and half a dozen 19.6x performances have been made, but no 19.4s or 19.5s

No one has run either 19.4 or 19.5. What's so difficult to understand about that?

Idiotic posts like yours don't make you look any smarter.
Well, you can think hes dumb, but hes right. Who cares if Bolt runs 19.5? I doubt he does. If Im Bolt, I am now focused on 19.2 And when Im ready to move up, 42.9
Who's David Oliver? He's the American champion, bronze medallist, and has already beaten Robles earlier this year. He's run under 13 this season too.

Can we nominate Walter Dix as the most consistent American sprinter of the year? Honestly, this must be his 8th sub-10 100m race this year. He just doesn't ever seem to have a bad race!
ow he does, prettymuch every race is a bad race tecnnically, its just hes got so much top end speed he comes through like a train.
with a full winter and an improvement in his first 30m, hes right in the 9.7 club.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
