He ran 3:46.24 PR in the heats Friday (right behind 4:00 mile NZ HS runner Nic Willis) to make tonight's World Jr 1500 final. He kept a low profile during the regular season, but what a great, perfectly peaking, post-season this kid has had. Give it up for Chris!
Lukezic was 11th in a tight field in 3:46.01 PR = 4:04low mile. This was the best performance by the U.S. in the distances (they got a World Jr Record in the 4x100):

I have seen Chris run twice, Golden West and USATF Jr's. While watching him run he looked very good. We all said this guy has the potential to be big time. And heck he ran 3:46 which converts to about 4:04 in the mile. But after looking at the World Jr results it like "Dam a 4:04 miler gets f-ing 11th" shows while the US distance runners are on an up swing they sure got an ass kicking at World Jr's ( this is in now way a slap against Chris or anyone else ) it just opens one's eyes about how well the rest of the world is running...3:30 and change in the 1,500 and new world Jr. record last friday by the lastest Kenyan sensation! Ok, maybe we question his birthday, reguardless theses dudes are running and has far as the Americans placing in the distances at world Jr's shows we have a way to go....
I give Chris massive props on his world performance. While American distance running is on the upswing, we are still behind many other countries to produce quality distance runners at a young age. This just shows that we start way later in developing our distance runners. I would bet that most of the people that beat Chris have been training and running for much longer than him. Many of the people that write on these boards want more American juniors doing well on the World level, well that isnt going to happen anytime soon even if we do get America back to distance respectability. One of the problems in America is that we dont start running our kids early enough. There are so many problems since we dont have many programs to start kids running early. Maybe at another time I will run over all of them. Thats my two cents.
