48.7 on the 2nd leg while training for the 100/200. she should be the gold medalist in the 400. what a leg!

With her build, I wonder how she'd get on at 800m? Could be spectacular.
Her and Muna Lee. They are both natural quarter milers but they just can't see it. They are doing well for being 1 and 2 events below their best.
for once i agree with someone on letsrun. i saw her crying after the race ... and this is the type of disappointment that will propel her.
don't sleep on this... every jamiacan kid will be out on the track running.. while every american kid will be playing video games and going to the mall.
the jamaicans.. are starting this culture ... and they are taking it to another level.
us needs to step it up.
What????????
She loses to an "enhanced" runner and she should move up?
yes. why did she even bother with the 1 at the trials? she got a silver in the 200 in the games. she would have won gold if she ran the 400.
And she is gorgeous. She should be a superstar.
Agreed. But it's usually sprinters who are UNSUCCESSFUL at 100/200 who end up running the 400 as their primary event. Felix has been very successful at 200 so there's no reason to move. Just running a fast relay split doesn't mean she should run the 400 solo. Flo Jo and Marion Jones ran 400 relay legs too. And probably the most important reason: Short sprinters HATE running the 400. It hurts. They would probably like the training even less. And if Felix took up running the 400 regularly it would probably hurt her short sprint which is where she makes her money.
She and Sanja would have run 200/400 if that was possible in China, but whoever made up the schedule messed up.
She is the 2time WC in 200 so in order for her to run the 400m, she would have had to dropped the 200.
I adore Felix, but the NBC highlight of her going to church and wanting to become a teacher like her mom and being a good role model for kids made me throw up a bit in the mouth. It is all too perfect and goody.
Felix is training for the 400 its just that she and her coach don't know it. they think all those 300s make for a good 100m runner, but that is the 1970s stuff that doesn't get it done anymore for 100 meters.
Bolt should drop the 100 nonsense and move up to the 400.
agreed but GAG with the "threw up a little bit in my mouth" played out...

Only because we saw one of the greatest 200's ever run by the Jamaican. THe 400 was extremely weak in comparison. Your statement is 100% irrelevant to whether she should move up.
she raced multiple rounds in the 100 at the trials. i'm going to go out on a limb and assume that she trained for the 100/200 all spring. she should have been training for the 200/400. the fact that she got smoked in the 100 at the trials is irrelevant as to whether she shouldn't be training for the 100? nice try.
plain and simple: because everything above 200m takes guts, willingness to hurt, and supreme committment. very few people make that jump in life, let alone athletics.

no, no, no.
Both Ally and Sanj was planning on 400/200 double, but the china sheduling did not make that possible.
They made these comments already during the trials.
Yeah, it's so much better when our athletes are former child molesters; those are great stories and role models!
Sarcasm alert!
when was the last time that someone with the fastest time in the world in the 400 decided to skip it and run another event that he/she isn't the fastest at?
Exactly... she and 1 other woman had the fastest time in the World this year in the 400 meters, and she chose not to even compete in it. I am guessing it was because it would be too hard to double in the 400 and 200, but I really believe her talents lie more in the 400 meters.
As far as how she was talking about wanting to be a teacher and all of that jazz making you "sick" because she seems too goody, goody... that's how she really is. If you ever get a chance to talk to her or listen just how she interacts with her family - that's not a show, she is really like that.
