Spearmon gets DQed and loses the Bronze. Anyone watch and know why?

lane violation
Stepped inside his lane on his 4th or 5th step.
He stepped on the line around the curve.
questionable lane violation. i am sure he will appeal.
that sure does suck. the look on his face. damn
He found out after he performed a victory dance with Bolt.
i was reasonably surprised to see he had the fastest PR in the field (no longer)

Are you questioning that he stepped on the line or that he should be DQ'd because of it?
Karma sucks. Track gods got him for his little shoulder brush-off in the prelims.
I have not seen the video reply in detail, but I would say both. I also admit not knowing the rule 100%. Does it only have to be 1 step anywhere on the white line, or over the line?
If you impede teh runner next to you, you can get DQ'd for that. Otherwise I believe it's four consecutive steps on or past the line.

Video replay clearly shoes multiple steps on the line soon after the start.
Rule 163.3 is the one you want:
http://www.iaaf.org/mm/Document/imported/42192.pdfThe line is part of the inside lane so stepping on it, by definition, is leaving your lane.

...and shortening the distance
anyone know what Spearman ran time-wise? was he top-3?
yeah he finished 3rd in 19.94, same as Crawford.
Now Crawford's gone from being out the medals to getting the silver and Dix has another bronze. I really think Spearmon should appeal, that looked very harsh to me
According to the New York Times, the U.S. did not appeal Spearmon's disqualification, but instead protested that Martina was not also disqualified. Apparently they won that protest, as Martina is now also listed as disqualified in the results.
wow. you are correct:

crawford silver
dix bronze
hope they aren't this nitpicky in the 400. let them run!
trivia- what US runner of note fairly recently lost his conference title for a lane violation?
JW at OU
