How much time did he drop in a year? Is it because he only runs well at championship meets? Does he associate with anyone shady? I am genuinely curious, because while it is strange that he dominated 05 worlds and now dominated the Olympic 1500 with little success in between, that's not nearly enough evidence to accuse someone of doping.
People are brainwashed by a certain media controlling crowd that has them thinking all Muslims and Arabs are evil, all blacks, especially those in Africa, are fun loving folks who'd never cheat, and most Westerners are vile and to blame for the world's ills. Just watch who posts here to defend these silly beliefs.
Ramzi is a great runner who actually has a very good competitive record the last 5 years.
I'm Muslim (though not an Arab) and I don't like him. I do think there's a strong possibility he's doping, and I defend most people from doping allegations. There's something suspicious about a guy who barely races and wins a world and Olympic title.
And everyone else we have to assume dopes as well. I don't like the Ramzi guy, but you know what Lagat has more reason than him even to be suspected of doping (including positive tests) so really if you assume a widespread doping scene, it's a level playing field.
I believe he's part of Boulami's team.

In 2001 he ran 3:40. In 2003 he ran 3:39. In 2004 he ran 3:30.25. He was not young when he ran these times--he was 21 in 2001.

Imagine if you will, a junior placing fifth at the NCAA 1500 then winning the world championships next year. That progression raises eyebrows. And a Bahraini team willing to purchase Ramzi's nationality would have few scruples about doing whatever it takes to get the most out of their investment (that's why Ramzi changed nationalities besides the need to get out from under El G's shadow).

I agree that Ramzi's lack of racing and borderline disappearance acts between championship races is very suspicious. In addition to those actions, the thing that makes me most weary is knowing that he is affiliated with a region (a la Aouita) that believes taking drugs actually evens the playing field. I feel that same about the Russian athletes. Whenever someone of Russian/Eastern European or North African affiliation runs super fast or wins a medal, I feel deep in my heart that they are using PEDs. I know its wrong and yes I can admit that I'm prejudiced with my beliefs associated with doping and dopers, but history does have a way of repeating itself.
Eventually, he will be caught.
Here's another honest question: is anyone else just a little afraid of Ramzi? I swear, even when he was celebrating the win, he had a look on his face like he could eat the still beating heart out of a baby bunny. There is something seriously not right with that guy.
the problem is that people keep on referring to the fact that he hasn't come out of nowhere.... ie doubled up in 2005 but thats my point he came out of absolutely nowhere to double up in that champs and i knew then he was a scumbag and i actually feel sick in the stomach everytime he steps onto the track.

Thanks, that's just what I was about to say. With all the talk of dirty North Africans and Russians, the US has far more doping convictions that any other country in track and field.

Fadl, I never said I'm sure Ramzi is doping. I gave the reasons why I think he's doping, and I'm sure you've heard them. He doesn't race much, and he went from 3:39 to 3:30 from 2003 to 2004. Last year he was absent from competition until the World Championships. Yes, people have answers: he was not allowed to race much by the Moroccan federation, which is why he made such rapid progress in 2004, and he was hurt last year. Everyone has excuses. I'm inclined to doubt them, though not terribly strongly.
The original topic is not how I know Ramzi is doping, but why I think he is. Those are the reasons. They're not based on race, at least not for me.

dude, why wouldn't you believe somebody is muslim? there's quite a few muslims out there, you know, at least 1.5 billion. there's only about 33 million canadians, you have more right to be suspicious of that claim than the muslim thing.
He hasn't failed a Muslim test yet so he must be Muslim.
