I was surprised to open up the eastbay catalog today and see an ad which has kobe bryant on the top half and kara goucher on the bottom half of a nike ad. are runners getting more recognition lately?

It's hard to tell because of the Olympics. I think track gets a lot more coverage in ads and in the press in an Olympic year because it's the biggest summer Olympic sport. The real test will be after the Olympics are over and have been for a while. Will they still get as much recogntion?
I'd like to think so and I do think it's possible. If you look at the times in the NCAAs and even on the pro level, they were just phenomenal this year. That, too, could also be due to the Olympics but we haven't seen this depth in a long time. We left some good runners at home after the trials. It seems to me that running is on the rise, and I hope it's not because of the Olympic "bump."

that sounds hot... i wonder if kobe will get away with this one too?
I noticed that during one of the update sections, you see a lot of tv screens in the back and one of them had kara finishing up her run at the trials.
in TV nothing happens as an accident, they obviously made sure that her highlight played at top right, just over the shoulder of the announcer guy.
nike must have paid big dollars to promote her.
I hope she wasn't walking funny after that photo session.
