Has anyone ever gotten this? I get it every summer because I'm lazy and don't wash my running shorts frequently enough, and I sweat a lot more in the summer so the sweat just builds up. I need to hand wash them frequently or just buy more pairs...

Are you talking about jock itch? Get some Lamisil. As far as the dirty shorts, just wear them into the shower after your run. Give 'em a good rinse and hang them up to dry. Problem solved.
LEDERHOSSEN!!!! That is the answer!
I had runners rash every summer until I started running in those German leather shorts. You NEVER wash them, wear them for running, socializing, etc. and they are stylish in every venue, and NO MORE rash. On more formal ocassions you attach the straps. Sometimes I ran with the straps on too, but usually it was more comfortable to run without them. I could run 100 mile days in them without any kind of rash at all.
I got a bit of a rash from a Japanese girl one time, but a little bit of anti-fungal and anti-bacterial ointment cleared that up nicely!
I know what you mean, I do the same thing and my shorts get stiff and rub on your leg. Just lather the rash area with some vasaline and you'll be good to go. You can also use tiger balm to get the rash to go away.
