Soboleva, Fomenko, Tomashova failed tests
what a shocker!!
this means that rowbury really only has to contend with jamal for gold !!!
also gives dobriskey a shot
What's DNA convergence?
Now if only the USA has the balls to do the same thing. Americans are always calling others guilty (what is the opinion of the Chinese) but have a rough time looking in the mirror.
How many think that the current group of chinese marathoners are drugged? How many believe that Alberto's crew is drugged?

That's what I want to know... wikipedia and google don't seem to help much on that subject. It implies maybe some sort of matches in cells (matching what?)... is it the same as Haplotype convergence?
"Five Russian athletes have been banned from competing in Beijing after they were found to have tampered with doping tests. Yelena Soboleva - who holds the world indoor 1500 metre record - Daria Pischalnikova, Gulfia Hanafeeva, Tatyana Tomashova and Yulia Fomenko have all been ruled out.
The International Association of Athletics Federations says the women’s tests, taken in 2007 and 2008, do not match.
The IAAF says the Russians will now face an official investigation, but will remain disqualified until the end of proceedings."

Hopefully more to come - thinks womens 5k and 10k
IAAF Anti-doping investigation leads to provisional suspension of Russian athletes
IAAF Logo (c)
MONACO - The IAAF has provisionally suspended seven athletes* from Russia for doping offences, a decision which has been acknowledged by the All Russia Athletics Federation (ARAF).
The athletes have been charged under IAAF Rules 32.2 (b) and 32.2 (e) for a fraudulent substitution of urine which is both a prohibited method and also a form of tampering with the doping control process. These rule violations were established following the deliberate storage of samples by the IAAF and re-analysis using comparative DNA techniques, and were the result of a specific investigation which was instigated and carried out by the IAAF for more than a year.
The IAAF will make no further comment until a final decision has been taken by the ARAF, which now takes over the responsibility to adjudicate these cases.
Note for Editors:
Under IAAF Rules, athletes have up to 14 days to request a hearing with the National Member Federation. If a hearing is requested, it must be held within a period of two months.
*Athletes provisionally suspended by the IAAF are:
Svetlana CHERKASOVA – 800m
Yulia FOMENKO – 1500m
Gulfiya KHANAFEYEVA – Hammer Throw
Darya PISHCHALNIKOVA - Discus Throw

Basically it means all the urine came from the same person.
Hopefully only a very small number of people think like you do. I give everyone the benefit of the doubt- until they are caught. I am not going to accuse Alberto's crew OR the Chinese and I didn't accuse the Russians.
Did the Russians look "fishy"? Yes, Drastic improvements always look fishy.
The problem is, everytime an athlete is at the top if his/her game, someone has to accuse them? Everyone does not cheat. Some people do cheat. Our sport does a great job of getting rid of cheats. Perhaps, to satisfy ignorant "fans", they should stop testing and deny it. No one gets tested, no one gets caught, no one cheats. Sounds like other, very popular, sports.
I guess I am only asking people to take an intelligent, level headed view- do not find guilty based on peformance. Trust the process to improve. Enjoy the sport for the for what it is- the ultimate test of human performance and when cheats are caught- treat them like crap.
To blindly accuse is the same as saying they are all innocent- both are extreme and naive views.
Busting Russians is always a popular move, shame they can't do the same for the other organised groups of dopers.
Interesting thought!! Which groups do you have in mind?
Rowbury still has more than Jamal to contend with. Burka from Ethiopia comes to mind, for one.

Belarus' days are numbered, don't worry.
They probably are mobile9.
I think we could see some suprises in the coming weeks.
Maybe not positive tests but some supreme underperforming.

You're oversimplifying a lot of the arguments most make for marks being "fishy". Also....why anyone wouldn't think the Chinese marks are "fishy" would escape a lot of people, including those who are not prone to immediately jump to a negative conclusion about some marks. What you're saying is that you require absolute proof (at least as best as can be provided) to doubt a mark. That in itself lowers the value of any opinion you may have on the subject.
With the Russian marks....there certainly was a decent set of circumstances that would allow anyone to cast doubt on their performances. The same could be said about some of the times in the 100m prelims at the US Olympic Trials....in terms of acceptable marks that is.
The worst is their #1 "female" shot putter. When you stand right next to her there NOTHING that would suggest to you that she's a woman.
She's been done before though hasn't she?
I remember all the other shot putters getting really excited when Vili beat her in the last round of the World Champs. Even the Chinese looked rather delighted.
this is a good sign. hope they catch more of these cheats!
Olga Yegerova added to the list. Paula Radcliffe must be somewhat pleased.
