Read Clyde Hart's training philosophies.
He puts a HUGE emphasis on repeat 200s at relatively slow paces with a short rest...ie 10x200 @ 29 seconds with 2-3 minutes rest.
He has said that if he could only do one workout a week that that is the workout he would use.
As the season progresses they cut rest and if say they were doing 10x200s at 29 they might progress down the ladder to say 5 in 24 or 4 in 23. For every 200 less they do they drop 1 second off the pace and for every 200 they add they add 1 second to pace.
Hart swears he has had 4x400s go 3:06 with nothing but this kind of 200 training.
