The controlled pace was perfect for her, and she took full advantage...smart, strong run.
Gotta give her confidence that she is a medal contender.
Results, anybody?? I can't pick up the feed...

This is about where I thought Shannon would be, coming off of the Trials. Her "flat" 800 was just an adjustment race.
Strong race as well for Twell (PB). Looks like she'll now be in Beijing.
The pacing was good for the first two laps, but after that it went to crap. 51-52 seconds from the 800-1100 mark. If she had just kept the same pace this section she would have PR'd and probably made it a closer race.

she did pr, moron.
Hardly
Allow me to clarify everything I have said: Rowbury ran an excellent race. Congratulations! That being said if she could run her 3rd lap at a more even pace she may drop her time considerably.
A 1.28 second PR at that level is a SUBSTANTIAL PR
wow, great run by Steph Twell too. 18 yrs old (I think? maybe just turned 19. either way, 4.05 is awesome)

it's slightly unusual to get ~ 64/64/68/44 in gp 4'00 races
it's usually ~ 64/66/64/46
former is less efficient, so rowy's got plenty to chisel off when she finally gets ~ 64/64/64/???
she doesn't look scared at all. that's what i like...it's like she knows that they are going to have to RUN to beat her...and she just moves and races the way she wants.
i'm worried she's going to be in better shape now, than then (OG's)...but I believe she's in contention now, whereas I wasn't so sure...
I thought Jamal looked like she was scared of Rowbury which was awesome to see. I think she looked back like 8-9 times in the final 150. Great run by Rowbury.

did YOU think that, or did LARRY RAWSON think that?
I hope she medals in Beijing, she looks very controlled today. She will surely be in the hunt for a medal, however there could be 2-3 Russians that can also run 4 minutes in the Olympics as well, and that could change the dynamics.
jamal hasn't looked great this year
she certainly doesn't look 3'56 shape at present ( youtube her thrashing in valencia )
maybe jamal is 3'58 at best currently - enough to beat rowby but not ruskie
Guys, I have to tell you that Jamal in Athens last sunday, ran a 58.8 first 400.......yup, in a 1500. She still held it together to run 4 minutes dead. So, she is in QUITE good shape. Like 3:53 shape or thereabouts. And I don't think she knows who Rowbury is, never mind about being scared of her.Nuff said.
