What's with all the slow times?

Webb is slowly creeping up into 3:34 condition. By the end of the summer look for a 3:32+.

Has anyone else noticed Christian Smith has run very poorly since the Trials??

He is running about the same as he ran before the trials. All it tells me is he is either training through these meets, has taken a breather before ratcheting it up for the olympics or he is a big race runner who runs his best in the races that count the most.

He would have had to beat Lomong, who beat him in the 1500, even after nearly qualifying in the 800. Then again, Webb ran about 1520 meters in the final of the 1500 . . . so you could say that he *would have qualified for the Olympics* at 1500, too.

I think Webb realized that last year, even though he had an amazing year, he peaked too soon. So, this year he planned on starting later and took a gamble that he could make it past the trials easily. The gamble didn't pay off for him.

I'll be surprised if he doesn't have the fastest 1,500 of the year for the US by the time the season is over.

and this will get him what exactly? i'm a big webby fan but am extremely disappointed that he couldn't make it to the olympics. he could run a world record 1,500 and he will still end the year ranked behind the gold, silver, and bronze medalists in my eyes...
