I am far more afraid that some of our finest distance runners are on drugs after these Olympic Trials. Watching the way that USATF and Nike was willing to manipulate the rules to better promote the brand and the sport, where does it end?
Rules are always open to interpretation. We have learned that people interpreting many of these rules are paid consultants for Nike.
A prominent coach that was asking for a favorable intrpretation is the same coach that said that "if it is not banned, then it is legal". Was the clear banned before anyone knew what it was? What is the newest blood booster? If we don't know what it is, is it illegal?
Nike will continue to promote Lance Armstrong and hide behind the "never tested positive" defense. Although no one involved in pro cycling would bet a quarter as to the innocence of Lance.
I learned this week that Nike would do ANYTHING to win. Why not drugs?
