he has the strength of two jason rexings, the heart of three geoffreys plus one eddylee (who will not stop until he breaks 4min), teaches yoga to jack bauer and chuck norris and chops off a lot of heads...i love that guy!!

Solinsky is over-rated. He was a good collegiate athlete but he is not world class.
you'd better not say that too loud. he'll crush your skull between his beast-like thighs!!

13:12?
I like him, but he's no Sandy!
Cerebus - Solinsky is not over-rated. If anything, this Trials demonstrates the value of consistent running over the years - and he will continue to benefit from a steady diet of post-collegiate, dedicated training. I think he has already made the transition from college - where the propensity to get fried is high - look at the college runners in these Trials - to the life of a professional - and really, he should only get better.
Athletes like Dobson, Yoder Begley, Kara Goucher, etc. were all college stars, and are drawing upon the strength gained over the years to make the grade. I have no reason to think that Solinsky will not progress - barring injury.
Having watched him run for a while, and I would think that he and his coach already agree with the same - he would benefit from a bit more patience. This is not really a serious criticism as he is a tough hard driving fellow and that puts him at the top. But the competition level at the big meets is so intense there is little room for error, and a bit more patience and relaxation would help with his kick and finish.
It is hard to say anything negative about him how about his teammate Teg hanging him out to dry? he had no chance leading the rest of the race. Teg couldn't tell him before the race the plan won't work? COME ON!
it was a TENTATIVE plan. Teg is doing everything possible to secure a spot for himself. Solinsky was an idiot for driving so hard and letting everyone draft... if Teg didnt take over Solinksy should have slowed and let someone else do the work.

do not speak ills of Solinsky. He has balls the size of coconuts, which makes running hard, but the legend must grow.
Well his coconut size balls will be watching the olympics from home...
dudes are you saying I have this shirt for nothing?
I heard Solinsky trains with 5 Rosie Odonnels on his back. He only slows down a little bit so he doesn't drop one.
an Odonnel or his Coconut(s)?
His "legend" will never be as large as Sandy's. Watch out 2012!

Cmon, his turds are larger than two Sandy's and a Rexing and his legend stretches for miles...the Olympics mean nothing if Solinsky is not there.
I'm pretty sure Chris Solinsky has never dropped a Rosie O'Donnell.
Solinsky's problem at the trials in my opinon was too few races. Last summer he ran 13:12 after a season of cross, indoor and outdoor campaign. I know they don't race much in season but they do race. He should have run at least one 5K before the trials- not sure what Schumacher was thinking. He was fit but not race sharp. Certainly not in 13:12 shape. No cross country season either- that's a long stretch of just training. Don't the Kenyan 5 and 10K runners all race CC in the fall?
The other consideration is I know the Badgers have nothing to do with altitude, simulated or otherwise. I think there is enough evidence out there now to support the benefits of some exposure to altitude. It would be interesting to note the number of 5K and 10K qualifiers that did some sleeping and or training at altitude.
Then again what do i know. I lived in Solinsky's hometown Stevens Point for 10 years- I always thought Suzy Favor-Hamilton's best shot at a medal was the 5K.
ABSOLUTELY!!All of Schumacher's athletes are building up mileage to the sky and UNDER_RACED
It didn't really matter what he did last fall, he was fat.
I don't think so. I talked to him last fall in Stevens Point and asked him about it- he told me he was running tons of high quality mileage, then got sick and never really was able to come back.
No insult at all intended to Solinsky, but he surely would run more economically if he shed a few pounds. It's like your car would get less miles per gallon if you put a 50-pound weight in the trunk. That's like 2.5 percent of a car's 2,000 pounds. So not suggesting Solinsky lose 50 pounds, but even 2.5 percent of say 160 pounds -- 4 pounds for the mathmatically challenged -- would make some difference. Imagine what 5-10 pounds less might do.
