I just got a pair of the 5.0 and 3.0. I like the 3.0 better because there is less of a shoe which is what I thought was the whole point. I plan to jog a mile or two in them 2-3 days per week. I was thinking perhaps during my cooldowns on track days. What do you all think?

50 - 60 miles a week, all in Free 5.0s. 1000++ miles a pair. 3 years without any injuries. 22 spare pairs of the original stockpiled for future use. Only thing I don't do is race in them (though I have in the past) as the Streak xc is lighter and faster.
Two years ago I ran 40-60 miles a week in the 5.0's for 1400 miles. Eventually they fell apart and I had to stop wearing them. At that time, it was the longest period of time I went without getting an injury that would have forced me to stop runnning. This Christmas I got the 3.0 and have ran 60-80 miles in them weekly. Only thing about the 3.0's is that they give me gnarly calluses everywhere. Other than that, they're a great shoe.
Friend of mine is 42 yrs old and runs in them every day. He went from having lower leg injuries and constant problems, to zero issues.
I can't say that would be true for everyone, but he's a case study of one.
I tried on a pair in December and hated them. My 800m stud got a pair and loved them. He both wore them to school and trained in them exclusively from Jan-June, at which time they basically fell off his feet. He did some ripping workouts in those shoes. He was only running 20-25 mpw, though.
Sounds a good move. Work towards more Free running. You can try a lightweight or shoe such as the FREE everyday for more of your steady runs too. See:
