1500 is going to have some drama, it is quite possible that Webb will not make the team unless there is some improvement by the trials. Figure Lagat is a cert for the team, then you can pick any from Manzano, Lomong, Rankin, Myers and Webb

webb may do anything
thats his story
he may win gold or he might not make the team
i think he make it
I'll be the only voice of reason here.
He won't make it.
He's over-rated. Vastly over-rated. Accept it.
yea. ranked in the world, 346 mile, two world champs finals. Very Overrated. the guy hasnt gotten a medal yet, so what. he still has at least one more olympics in him after this year.
he is probably the most underrated and overlooked runner in the States today!
How many US championships has Webb won? You can say what you want about the guy in the major stuff but he has proven he owns the US scene at 1500 meters. (I'm only talking in US competition, of course I know about Lagat at World Championships.) You are such a loser Spyders Webb.

All I have to do is point to the countless threads here, all predicting Webb to have a great race. I predict he won't.
Who is right nearly every time? Oh yeah, I am.
So far this year, here is Webb's scorecared:
Races he got his ass handed to him, had a DNF or wouldn't run: 4
Good races: 0
Yep, he's a great runner. The best. Certainly deserving of everyone here predicting he'll have an eye popping race every time he runs.
Tell you what. You keep predicting he'll have a great run every race and I'll keep predicting he'll suck. Bet you I'm right A LOT more than you are.
So far this year, I'm 4-0.
Hold on guys
You act like Webb really sucked yesterday. He still ran a 3:55, without any special effort or kick. He never died, he was just never in the race.
My point: Who else on the US team can jog a 3:55?
add said ahmed, lukezic, johnjefferson, russell brown to the mix at the trials.
at the games lagat,komen,ramzi,baala,kipchirchir,choge,boukensa,kiprop,
mansour-ali and simotwo
Webb will still run sub 3:50 this year...If he were to have run 3:50 yesterday [people would be saying he is going to burnout by bejiing.

LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now, I've heard it all. Now when he gets his ass handed to him the excuse from the Webb jock lickers is that he wasn't even racing, but jogging??????????????????????
Yeah, had he felt like it, he would have shown the entire field what he's made of, woulnd't he? Nothing like a little jog in the Pre and finish 7th. Just part of his big plan, I'm sure.
You can put down the crack pipe now.
Alan ran a sub par (for him) 2 mile in last years PRE and came back for a really nice season. One race does not tell the story. I suspect he is looking and training beyond the PREFONTAINE CLASSIC. Let's give the man a break. He will back.
Spyders Webb, do you disagree with this statement: Webb is an extremely good runner, just a very inconsistent one. I don't see how you can disagree with that. He's shown that he has the ability to run astounding times, world-leading times, and to win against world-class fields. He's also bombed, DNF'ed, and just plain ran poorly. Last year every single race with the exception of the world championships was of the former type. What were you saying about Webb then? I think you are a troll
wow spyders webb your a fag.....so what do you have to say about webbs season last year...was he complete shit then too???it was his opener?and he ran 3:55 he has done nothing in the last 3 years to show us he wont make this team...and he will be ready to go...and im sure he isnt happy about the 355 but he will be ready to go
one race doesn't tell a story but the problem is that there is A LOT more than 1 race. there is all of 2008. it's not like he has done anything in the last 9 months.

Yeah, after his DNF at the 8k he would be ready to go at Carlsbad. Then, he got his ass handed to him and he will be ready at Drake. OOPS, he wasn't ready, but saving himself for Pre.
He gets his ass handed to him at Pre and he's going to be ready for the Trials.
Same old excuses over and over and over and over.
The kid is a head case. He's over-rated. His bad races vastly out number is good ones. He's not great. He's an over-rated head case who has a good race every now and then with a ton of bad ones in between. Yep, the mark of a great runner.
But, keep making excuses for him. I get quite a laugh out of all of you fighting over his jock.
You know, I don't really like Webb because of his inconsitency, but I will have to admit he is A) a good runner and B) is setting himself up for an excellent 2008. Having expected CONSISTENT great things from him in 2001 when he ran 3:53 as a high schooler, I am glad he only ran 3:55 yesterday; maybe he won't suck balls in the Olympic final in 2 months. However, Spyders Webb has a point. Webb is clearly an overtalented headcase who would rather submit to the pain than run through it. You can argue if you want, but name one time he has run well and NOT looked like he could've gone 5 seconds faster. He runs well when he's feeling good, or he runs like sh*t.

Oxymoron.
To answer someone's question, Webb has been the USA 1500-meter champ outdoors three times.
There aren't three milers in the United States better than Alan Webb. He will make the team, and then Spyder's Webb can come down off this arrogant high he's got going here.
