Webb's performance.
men's high hurdles.......pay to bring him there, and he dq's (perhaps on purpose) nice!
U.S. distance runners (except for possibly Solinsky and Wurth-Thomas)
You know if all of the U.S. distance runners ran well at this meet, the negative people who start/post on these threads would say they are peaking too early and question their training.
Lagat easily won, Abdi ran really well, Webb had a good opener, KD and Symmonds ran alright, where was the disappointment?

Lagat looked great.

that was a total setup. his teammate false starts first so that he's guaranteed to get DQ'd. hides the fact that he's probably hurt worse than he wants people to know. plus, doesnt' look bad if he loses.
Bolota only ran 8:32.
I thought most of the meet was unimpressive. Multiple false starts in the sprints(all on live T.V.), then no one breaks 10.0, Webb flops, chinese shananigans in the hurdles, bad rabbits, lackluster 2 mile. NBC did a good job to at least make sound interesting and get the mile on the air before time ran out.

Yeah, you're right. 26 mids 10K; 14 mids women's 5K; Mutola's 16th straight 800m win after HSer Price leads for 600m; Lagat outkicking Ramzi et al in 2-mile; Walker's AR in the PV; yadda, yadda, yadda.
Great day, great meet. Had to be there. It was interesting at Hayward, regardless of what NBC did or didn't do. Eat your heart out.
not seeing the womens 5k and mens 10k
I was disappointed with the 2-mile. The rabbit (Bak) messed up so Mottram does what he can to make a show out of and the rest of the field walks all over him for it. I respect Mottram for that, otherwise the race would have went through 4:20 at the mile.

How is that bad for a season opener?

Are you kidding? Mottram's the one who bunched up the field after the rabbit dropped. He didn't look comfortable from the beginning, had a bad race, and got worked. Don't make him out to be some altruistic, sacrificial hero. He had a bad race, plain and simple. He doesn't need you to make excuses for him.
the coverage! There were alot of interesting stories to cover, Price, Puskedra, Bekele, etc and times for US potentials that came in after third place. Yada yada... Coverage sucked! Thanks a load NBC
what happend? Mottram seems to be having a disappointing day at the office
Maybe you didn't watch the race. It bunched up some 2400m into the race when it was clear no one was going to pass Mottram. Mottran slowed up (threw in a 65!!!) and still no one passed. Despite his bad race, he finished 6 seconds back. And you are correct in stating this was a bad race for Mottram. Considering the field, it is not unreasonable to expect someone else to take the lead at some point before 600m to go. To highlight the field:
Bernard Lagat (3 World titles, Olympic sliver and bronze)
Saif Shaheen (2 World Titles)
Rashid Ramzi (2 World titles)
Craig Mottram (World champs bronze)
Shadrack Kosgei (5th place Worlds)
Paul Koech (World title)
Sullivan
Tegenkamp
Cantwell
Aries Merrit
Jamal
Walter Davis
WTH?
i don't think anyone who was there was disappointed. i certainly wasn't. non-stop f-ing fantastic action. and i'm really surprised that more is not being made of chanelle price's 800... she was still in the lead at 700 and really fought off mutola until the last 100. granted, she then faded, but what balls/ovaries! too bad we couldn't have had german fernandez in the 2 mile.....
I was there and I was disappointed, so you're wrong.
