Not sure if that was the Half-marathon time he was looking for. But it was at altitude.

Almost the exact same time I ran...okay, mine was a 10 miler, but it was over a tougher course and at a higher altitude!!!
I think it was nothing more than a good effort for Alan before the trials, with the poor weather @ the start and little to no real competition, he did only what he needed to do..
I'm sure he made a few bucks for running it (appearance fees, etc.) It's in his backyard, he won by 6 minutes. He was probably running a hard tempo run, but probably equivalent to a 1:06, so not horrible!
It's really windy up here today
62:30 is horrible for someone that thinks he has any chance in the world of being an Olympian,
Who ran 62:30? Because Culpepper is an Olympian, he finished 12th in Athens.

You probably haven't heard much about what Culpepper's plans are. He said if he ran well today he would lean towards running the trials, and if he didn't run well today he might not even attempt the 10k. This was not a tune up, it was a fitness check.
Culpepper's getting up there in age anyways when you speak Olympics, and especially on the track! But still one of our greatest distance runnners in the last decade.
I dont know what to make out of it. I hope he does choose to run the trials. I would hate to see a 1:08 half marathon be the last race of his long great career.

nobody cares about Culpepper (Icabod Crane) and his plans. He's passed on the honor to represent the US in international competition once too many times as far as I'm concerned. A me, me, me guy. Good ridance.
EVERYONE OF YOU ARE MORONS!!
The guy won national cross (beating a 13:10 5k guy and a 27:36 10k guy, both accustomed to altitude, in the process) and ran 27:50 just last year for crying out loud. Not an internationally competitive time to be sure, but not far off his PR. Personally, I think the downhill of Boston fried his legs. He never ran any faster than his debut marathon and always seemed flat every marathon after 2004.

Would you have prefered his DNF in the marathon trials?
at some point, you do what you have to do to pay the bills. that said, people love alan culpepper in colorado - he's great , nice family guy, articulate, has kept his nose clean, always has something good and positive to say - what's not to like?
Yeah, hope he's not 'paying the bills', winning races such as the Rocky Mountain Half Marathon, especially with some kids to feed.
he has really white teeth
especially since they don't offer any prize money at the Rocky Mountain Half.
I ran the race and there were a couple guys with GPS watches and they all recorded 13.4 miles on their watches.

Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Strava thinks the London Marathon times improved 12 minutes last year thanks to supershoes
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
