If that woMAN isn't on steroids then she's had a surgery or two cause she is far more masculine looking than other dopers that have been caught. For years everyone though Marion looked like a dude and doped. Then we find out it's true. There is 100% no way that Mutola isn't on PED's.

Mutola has looked the way she does since she was 16. Her appearance is NOT an indicator of drug use (I haven't been to Maputo before, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of women there who are dead ringers for her).

As some have said, Mutola looks for all the world as if she might fail a sex test, but if so I don't think she's taken steroids to get there.

I must admit that Jelimo also looks quite masculine. Janeth Jepkosgei looks very slim and faminine however.

Jelimo is a former sprinter, which might explain her stronger build.

kenya have no women sprinters, so i don't know how she couda called herself a "sprinter" before

they now have by far the 2 quickest 800 gals around & before they finish, both shoud go into the 1'54s making them quickest "clean" gals in history ( if you are suspicious of quirot, then 1'55.19 is the "clean" record )

now consider : fastest over 800m & arguably strongest overall nation at marathon, means that they shoud dominate the "in between" of 1500 - 10k

they showed they have gals with speed at short end ( 800m ) & endurance at long end ( marathon )

therefore, they shoud have gals with a good blend of both in the middle distances - 3'55/3'56 , <8'20 , <14'20 & ~30'00 gals

i shoud also add that the ruskies are similarly strong over 800 & a little less so over marathon, & they shoud also be producing decent gals in those distances - they at least have 3'55/3'56 gals & a coupla 8'27i which must be worth at worst 8'22

Unbelievable comment, considering it has emerged that America is by far and away the most doped nation on the athletics planet, politics don't even come into it, I'm likely to say i'm not into trusting athletes from Capitalist regimes! After all it seems to have turned them into money mad druggies!

iaaf/wada have a semi-official policy of target testing everyone in the top-10 of an event regularly ( for arguments sake they want everyone there tested at least 10 times randomly in a year not withstanding testing in comp )

what's your point? that they should produce some more great milers/5k/10k runners? They probably will in the future. Women's distance running in Kenya is still in its infancy. The men had top runners here and there for many years, but it wasn't until the 80's/90's that they really started to dominate. Give the women a little more time. And Kenyan women have already produced a 3:57, an 8:23, a 14:22 (# 2 all time), and a 30:12 (Kiplagat is Kenyan). So it's not like they haven't produced any great runners at these distances. But I agree with you that, like the men, the mile/5k/10k should be their best events, and they probably will dominate those some day soon.

Also, the Kenyan men easily have the best depth of any country on the all-time list for 800 (10 of the top 22 all-time fastest performers; Kipketer obviously counts as Kenyan), so it should be no shock that they would produce some great women at this distance also. It should be expected.

Maybe you are joking, but of course Kenya has sprinters. Maybe not that good, but they HAVE men and women participating in sprint events. They have national championship races in the 100/200. They also have produced some very good men's 400 meter runners before (top 20 all-time performer list good enough for you?), and most people still consider that a sprint. So..... she was probably a 200/400 runner who was very good for Kenya. And yes, she would call herself a "sprinter" if that was the case.

the national records of kenya are 11.62/23.37/51.56 which is worse than the standard of a decent american college

i find it hard to believe anyone can call those gals "sprinters" & keep a straight face

as for their lack of dominance in women's distance, that "infancy" excuse won't work - they had a barefoot kid win the 10k in '97 ( & she beat wami & adere to boot !!! ), 11 long years ago & beat the 'thopys to the 1st global outdoor iaaf title ( wami was their 1st winner in '99 over 10k & it opened the floodgates )

kenyan women made nothing of that breakthru & stagnated for a decade & only last year won their 2nd outdoor track title

kenyan women have done virtually nothing on the track in comparison to ther main rivals

Most americans weren't "caught", the balco situation unveiled a whole mess of trouble. Don't think for a second that other countries are clean because they haven't been caught. They simply haven't had a doctor rat them out yet. Everyone knows it's pretty easy to test negative and be positive.
