I was talking to a friend of mine the other day who is a body builder. He's been lifting extremely seriously for about 2 years now and has really been doing well. Regardless, he told me about this type of workout that he and his workout partner do that they call a "shock workout". He says that when they plateau after a while, they do a workout that is very heavy weights with a lot of reps. They do this to "shock" their body and, in about a week or two , their out of their plateau and on to heavier weights. My question is this: If they can do this for weights, is it applicable to running? Could you pull a Quentin Cassidy (60x400) in order to get you over a running plateau? Does anyone think it would work? Has anyone tried it? Some thoughts, please...
