I have 3 friends (2 girls and 1 guy) that want to run a 1/2 marathon in mid September. Since I ran in college and currently run about 45-50 MPW they decided to ask my advice on how to train for an 1/2 marathon. I've never trained for nor ran a 1/2, so I"m coming to LetsRun for advice. Now before anyone slams me for writing a stupid post, I'd like to put it out that I don't want to give my friends(or anyone for that matter) misinformation or see them get hurt from training. I figured that LetsRun would be the best place to for resources.
Here's a little about them...
They range in age from 29-32 and are pretty casual runners. They run about 3 times a week and typically try to get about 40-45 minutes in each time. One of the females can run 30 minutes before she has to stop for a few seconds and then finish off the final 10 minutes or so. They are in pretty good shape (not fat or chubby) and have pretty healthy diets. They are not looking to smash course records or anything, just want to add a 1/2 marathon to their list of accomplishments.
