What could Carlos Lopes run an open 400 in his prime? My guess is about 53.

I know very little about Lopes besides his marathoning, but these are his best times:
1.500m: 3.41,1 in 1982;
3.000m: 7.48 in 1976;
5.000m: 13.16,38 in 1984;
10.000m: 27.17,48 in 1984;
3.000m: Steeple Chase 8.39,6 in 1973;
Marathon 2:07’12’’ in 1985;
I don't know how that suggests a 53-second 400.
From that thread about Bekele's 400, I guess the way it works is that Lopes has an Olympic gold medal in the marathon and Tergat doesn't, but Tergat beat Geb in the 2002 London Marathon, and Geb ran a 12:39. Consequently, Lopes must be able to run like a 12:30 5k with 46-second speed.
Probably 53 at best. I remember reading his coach describing him has having no speed, and their are examples of fast marathoners with as slow as 55 second 400 speed. Salazar is a similar example.
Don't know what your'e getting at hear. Lopes competed 25-30 years ago. There were no sub-13:00 runners until he retired.
It was a joke about the speculative nonsense on the other thread.
