either way works but strides after your longer/main run is definitely the best way to go. Strides after both is not recommendable. usually elite runners will do their easy shakeout run 20-40 minutes in the morning and then their main run in the afternoon of 60-80 minutes followed by some drills and quick strides. Another approach is to do the 60-80 minute run in the morning followed by strides and the easy 20-40 minute run in the afternoon. Personally I like the first scenario best. Regardless of which method you use just make sure that your easy run stays easy. 20-40 minute run should function as a way to shake all that junk out of your legs and to allow your body to recover. A big mistake runners make is to go hard in both runs.
I would say elites usally do their longer and harder run first then a shorter recovery jog in the evening.
