ive always takin ice baths after a hard workout or long run and they seem to help me recover good.......but i was wondering can they help the day before a race,have any of you tried it before?

i've always done it... and it always seems to help. not like it's going to hurt you... it will help more than anything. especially if i feel my legs are tired on the shake-out day before run. then the ice bath definitely helps.
I used to fear icing the day before a race because sometimes my legs feel tight/ sluggish the next day after icing. But I tried it anyways and I felt great the next day when I warmed up. I usually jog 5-15 minutes in the morning before races to shake out, so that might help too.
I hear they hose down horses with cold water the night before races. May be on to something.
your legs will thaw out within a couple hours of icing....
