Nice pictures on TFN site. That's going to hurt.

I heart head trauma.

"Stanford's head is bleeding!"
That Stanford girl is primal. What a fighter!
Now if this chick were playing basketball, she'd have to comeout of the game for health safety reasons. Now I know track isn't necessarily considered a contact sport, but I bet there's a fair chance of her spattering blood on other runners or even rubbing up against them. Shouldn't she be pulled from the race?
coolest.
Thing.
ever.
my new hero! she is a serious badass.
I have never seen someone take such a hard fall and get up so quickly to be competitive. It almost makes Prefontaine's bloody foot seem trivial in comparison. She made her history in that race.

The head wound may look cool, but I've got to believe those scrapes and burns on the side will be the more painful thing. Can you imagine showering after getting tore up like that?
She is a Tuff ATHLETE, I have alot respect for here.
She did an awesome job recovering and getting back up toward the front. Great effort. Strong person.
BooYaaaaa! Alsome!
thanks for the update
looks like road rash after a bicycle spill
very nice comeback by her, that should be in SI

Seriously??
Would be interesting to hear her story or from someone in the stands that was near the fall - she didn't appear to get tangled up with the shorter runner to her left on the rail, and the runners right behind her didn't appear to break stride much like they would if they had clipped her from behind...
Very tough indeed...
where can i see more Penn photos at TAFN ? i tried

Probably, yes.
However, the wound was on the right side (were the judges, as happens at a lot of meets, mostly inside the curb i.e. on her left side?);
it probably took the better part of a lap for the bleeding to become apparent;
officials react very, very slowly to situations where the best solution may be to pull the runner from the race; and
trying to pull her from the race would almost certainly have interfered with other runners' races.
Nevertheless, you're probably actually right.
The Villanova woman is bueno.
