I'm a fairly decent high school girl distance runner-- 10:56 3200, 5:03 1600, yet i have absolutely no ability to sprint. At a dual meet the other day, I ran a 67 in an open 400, because my coach wanted to see what I could do in it. That was an all-out effort, and I cant believe how slow I am.
I have 2 questions:
1- does this mean that I'll never get very good at the 3200/1600 because you have to have good quarter speed to run middle distance
2- is it worth devoting alot of time trying to get into the 62-63 range, and will that help my in my 1600s and 3200s
