Did anyone consider these two in their top 20? Great runs for both of them! Go state of Colorado. Yee-haw!

Gomez for sure. Wasn't she in the team for Osaka?
Tera is also talented, she was a top illinois runner in high school posting a 4:52 1600.
Glad you mentioned Zoila, when we (Mid-America Running Association and UMKC, with Terry and Lisa Drake) hosted the women's 1/2 marathon championships at Hospital Hill a couple years ago, (before new management took it), Zoila was one of several women, Ann Alynak being another, that looked to be the future of US running. Zoila has a wonderful passion that will take her far, just as you saw in the last sprint to the finish today. Reading in another thread that she was the first of 16 kids to make it through college, but she also worked as a janitor to help the family then, makes her even more special. What a great American.
I don't remember this article in RT, but there here's a link to a wonderful article by Chris Lear about Zoila Gomez: (thank you, google!)

I actually think MOST people had Zoila in their top 20, perhaps even top ten
Tera was an amazing runner in high school and she ran pretty well at Colorado. She just ran a 1:13 at the Houston 1/2, so her marathon performance shouldn't be that big of a surprise. Congratulations Tera!
Not sure what a 4:52 mile in high school and talent have to do with the marathon. But I would say a 12 minute PR would be a bit of a surprise! Great race Tera, and I'm sure it was lots of hard work along with that talent!
You don't know what talent has to do with running a fast marathon?
it was 90 degrees when she ran 12 minutes slower.
Yeah, it was hot in Chicago. What was the temp the 2 other times she ran Chicago? I'm not taking away from her performance, I would consider it a great race, but a bit of a surprise to most. Great race Tera and many more ahead!!
Sure it takes some talent to run a fast marathon, but I still hate when people use that word for athletes running 100+ miles a week. I prefer to use it for baseball players and golfers, maybe even sprinters.
Her h.s. and even collegiate career marks indicated some pretty good ability. Add a ton of aerobic development to that and a pretty good marathon should follow. What she did in her previous tries at Chicago might be indicative of nothing except things just going wrong. What's more relevant, how she ran at Chicago two or three years ago or how she performed there in far from ideal conditions in the past year?
I think Tera went to Texas.
Great effort by Zoila!!!! Good job Zoila, keep it up....
Well then you are kind of retarded, I would say.

Tera is hot!
Lewy-Boulet and Gomez are naturalized citizens. Is there something about people who are willing to move here and gain citizenship that they will do all they can do to work towards their dreams?
Nah, 1st generation Americans have done nothing to prove their worth as Americans. In any field.
Tera actually underperformed on the 20th.

Her 1:13:05 Half from January shows a fitness level capable of a 2:33:26 full marathon.
She avg. 5:52 at the trials, but was losing it over the last couple of miles. 6:03 between 24 and 25, 6:11 between 25 and 26 and that's how Zoila caught her at the finish.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06

Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
