If anything I think a fast pace will make it easier for Bekele to out kick the field. he, at sub 26:20 for the 10k. He has gone 52 with a sub 27:00 10k. If it is a slow race somebody might be able to catch him. However, this usually isn't the case in xc. I'm pretty sure Bekele realizes he benefits more from a quicker pace. I'd like to see him and Sihine work together.

Not in top 20: Mottram. I think he will struggle. Don't think XC long course is his best surface. Especially on a muddy course. He would have had a good chance in the short course.

I agree about mottram. If his best distance is 3000m and he got beaten handily by Bekele and a few others, I don't think he will crack the top 15 at 12k world xc.

However, this makes me respect the fact that he is running it even more if anything.

Bekele will win hands down. The top six contenders all will have a chance to win.... until the last 600 meters. Then its bye bye from Bekele.

I assume you didn’t see the race this January over the same course.

A group containing Bekele, Tadesse and Kipchoge were together until they came to the last hill before the end, only about 700mts away.

Bekele just seem to find another gear and left them for dead up the hill and flew down the straight, winning with some ease.

If he was on that sort of form a couple of months ago - imagine how good he is right now. No one will beat him this Sunday.

For those of you who didn't pick Bekele, let's be serious. If someone were to hold a gun to your head and make you pick who you really think the winner will be, you would pick Bekele.

You're probably right. How many of the 10% that picked Mottram really believe that he's going to win? Not many I suspect.

Exactly, guys like the last king just like to anonymously go out on a limb with an unlikely prediction. We'll probably never hear from him again now that his petty attempt at being the "guy who said bekele would lose" failed. We will hear it again come August, when Kenenisa and Jeremy Wariner and whatever other favorites will be "boldly" predicted to lose again.
