I am running my first half marathon in may. After reading tons of threads about marathon and half marathon race planning, I am wondering if I'll need to fuel during my race. As a college runner I ran countless long runs of 12 or so miles. Since college I have gotten away from running, but I am making a modest comeback in this half marathon.
During my long runs in college I never once fueled up with more than a few sips of water, maybe a cup or two on a really hot day during the actual run. Will I really need to drink lots of gatorade / packets of GU during the race?
I plan on going 7 minute pace and the weather should be around 50-60 degrees.
