It means nothing that he can run those times.

um...you run 5:20 miles for 100 mile races? i think you misread my post. and can you beat a 41 second 300 hurdler in a dead on sprint? he actually was fast, i just want to know how fast

i have a sister who never participated in sports. she drinks occasionally and for the most part is very sedentary. oh yeah, she also is very nice and has double Ds.

what could she have ran in the full mile. not the 1600, but the actually mile, 1609 meters.

She could have run 5:30. As for the OP, I don't have enough information to know how fast your brother could have run.

There are alot of if,ands, and buts, in this situation and

your using past tense so I assume your brother is deceased.

If so I'm truly sorry for your loss.

I think, and i'm just a nobody runner, that he may have become an olympian had he really trained hard and didn't get a serious injury. His times are amazing considering he ran that 400m that fast and hadn't trained.

I also imagine his two mile run time was in army boots and had he ran more distance I'll bet he would have been a sub four miler. Good luck to you and your family and memories if that's all you have....take care and God Bless

Similar family situation. I broke 4:10 for the mile in college, my younger brother broke 4. My older sister who never ran competitively and ran 100m hurdles in middle school as the extent of her TF background, ran 5:09 for 1600m as a part of her Cheerleading tryout in college (4 laps on her schools track). She called telling me her coach let her know that was the fastest by quite a bit he had ever had anyone run, so she called and asked if it was any good. She once entered a 1/2 marathon on a whim and ran 1:35 with no running in the previous few weeks.

In high school I was an all-state 800 guy and I raced an all-state 300 hurdler in the 400. I was in 1:55.5x shape, he was in 39.9x shape. I won, 50.9x to 51.xx. Maybe that will be of some relevance to you.

Which part don't you believe? That an 800 runner would do the decathlon, that a 1:55 guy could run 50.9, or that a 39.9 hurdler could only run 51?

Oh, I guess I didn't mention that it was in the decathlon. That's the only reason I was running a 400 using FAT timing. It was a week after the state meet. I was a good runner, decent jumper, decent javelin guy but was useless in the hurdles, pole vault (no heighted), shot, and disc.

I knew him because he was our conference champion in 300 hurdles. We were in the same heat. I won the heat.
