you ought to consider Lexington , MA instead. Unless you got four legs Kentucky aint the place to run.
Louisville is a much better place for running and cincy is as well. Lexington is not a good running hub! Louisville has nice parks to train in along with some decent running clubs, former world class runner swag hartel has a running club, Iroqouis Hill Runners, then there is cherokee road runners, then you have Fleet Feet Sports --

Louisville's doesnt have a lot of good races but the ones they have are all first class. the spring is their best time with the mini and the triple crown series they put on. Guys at fleet feet though are fast, you have a 2:20 marathoner working out there and word has it that many people like Louisville's running scene so much, some elite runners are going to make it a hub to train at in the near future. Email me if you need any other knowledge of the area.
Louisville has a pretty good running scene at the moment, although there are a group of us here in Lexington on the fleet feet team that have tried to pick things up in Lexington and are trying to build our training group up.
There is Benny Macintosh, making a comeback and a 28:39 10k man back in the early 90s, Eric Coffman who runs about 15:30/32:00, me (Stuart Moran), along with 3-4 guys in the 16-17:00 range for a 5k. Email me at stu2244@hotmail if you like.
The Louisville area loves runners. There are great places to run in the area including the parks (3, but 2 great for running) and the RiverWalk(6+ mile path along the river). There aren't a lot of trails though. The best place to find trails would again be the parks or just north of Louisville in Floyd Knobs. There are also great hills to run in the Louisville area, the best being in Iroquois Park (hilly perimeter, 1+ mile climb interior). If you do decide to live in the Louisville area I would suggest living outside of Louisville, say Jeffersonville, Clarksville, or New Albany, especially New Albany. There you can easily reach the hills of Floyd Knobs on your runs and they are great hills to run. You're also about a 20minute drive from the 50mile Knobstone trail system.
The best racing is in the spring, but you can still find races with 15:00 5ks, 20:00 4 milers, and 25:00 5milers in the fall.
The weather can suck, but it's bearable. 80-90s with high humidity is the norm in the summer. Winters haven't been anything lately, but it can be bad at times.

Other than the idiot who made the "Lexington, MA" comment, these posts appear pretty accurate. Although Louisville is obviously a much larger city and thus may offer a little more in the way of clubs and races, the Lexington area has a lot to offer running wise as well. Longtime world road 10K record holder Mark Nenow lived and trained in Lexington during his heyday, and as you probably know, UK has also produced several all-american distance and middle distance runners. Ben McIntosh, who as Stuart Moran pointed out has run 28:30, is back living and training here. Stuart has recently proven himself to be one of the most promising young distance runners in the southeast, with his performances at Steamboat (19:25) and Crazy 8's (24:25). Hunter Spencer (UK) ran in the finals of the US 1500 meters in June and ran about 3:40-41 during his spring season, while his teammate Thomas Morgan qualified for XC Nationals individually and ran around 8:00 for 3000 indoors this year. MSU best of luck with your upcoming season, you are welcome to join us to train any time..
Do you guy ever train with Hunter or Thomas???
I love Kentucky, land where I first ran. In Louisville, I ran a lot at Seneca Park and Tom Sawyer. When at Seneca, you may very well end up at cherokee park for some solid hills and see an abundnace of people leading "alternative" lifestyles. For Lexington, sounds like the UK team has some stars and had some great ones in the past. do you LExignton runners go to the horse park much? Thats probably my favorite course in the state. long live the bluegrass.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
