I said it as soon as i saw trinity and smith's move to oregon 3 or whatever weeks ago. At that time I said that Razcko was sure to resign and Webb go to Oregon. Looks like its happening.

He said he was going to focus more on Alan, not stop coaching him.
Webb must run a 3:55 mile by next spring. That is all that matters. I don't care if snaggle puss is coaching him. It is time to stop running semi-pro miles races.
3:55 is still semi-pro dude, not a breakthrough. The kid ran 3:53 in highschool!
i agree. with all due to respect to the guy i'm about to refer to but.....goucher can run and RAN 3:55 two years ago @Pre....so that time is NO GAUGE for a miler as far as improvement goes. if webb went 3:55 @ pre, and subsquently dropped from thereon then that's different.
3:55 is a strong second-level international time. Jason Pyrah made the Olympic finals in 2000 with 3:55 mile speed. Of course against the Africans a 3:55 is nothing to write home about, but it a competitive time when run on the North American continent. A 3:54-3:56 mile seems to be where the top US milers fall into today. Only Lassiter and Krummenacker seemed to be able to run faster. It is a shame Krummenacker won't be running the 1500 at the Olympic trials.
Webb has not come close to running his high school pr of 3:53.
Considering how badly Webb has run in the last year a 3:55 would be a good time for him. A 3:55 is a good foundation to start training for better times. Before he can run a 3:50, Webb must first demonstrate the ability to run 3:55 on a consistent basis. This is basically what Jason Lunn has been doing this past year.
Don't knock a 3:55 mile. It is an important time for a talented runner who maybe of the cusp of becoming an international superstar.
Watch out for Jason Lunn. He has now run around 12 3:55 miles. He is bound to run a fast mile (3:51-3:53) by next year. Running a 3:55 mile is like batting .300 in baseball. It is an indication that better times will come.

In order for him to continue coaching Webb, Raczcko would kind of have to move to Oregon with Webb. It's tough to do that when you have a job across the country.

That statement makes absolutely no sense.
I think he means it is an international time.
It is true. Alan Webb has not even come close to the 3:53 he ran in high school. Something must be wrong. Even during my mediocre career I could have given him some competition this year.
From where I stand a 3:55 is a great time. I wish I broke four .
He's not on drugs. maybe he should start again.
I never said he was going to stop coaching him. I said Webb and Fatzko are sure to go to Oregon to train with the former GMU guy. He was Fatzko's mentor and has expressed an interest in coaching Webb. Couple that with the fact that Richard Smith and Trintity Gray are now in Oregon along with the aforementioned coach... and Fatzko quits his day job... its pretty obvious what the next move will be. Like I said, called it weeks ago.
Cook and Scotty are not going to team up again.
It's one or the other for Webb.
Why would anyone who wants to be a world class miler train in suburban DC? I would go where there's good weather year-round, altitude, and a lot of fast people to train with. I wonder if he could get into Stanford?
World Class
Bile and Holman both ran 3:31 training in the DC area.
Their highest world rankings were #1 and #4.
I might be wrong about this, but I think he probably blew his eligibility by signing with Nike. Don't think he'll be running for Stanford, even if he could get in.
But the question still remains: why would anybody WANT to live and train in the DC area when there are many better alternatives? Then again why would anyone want to train with Scotty Boy? ah the mysteries of life.
Well, Bile came from Somalia and didn?t know any better. Holman came from Minnesota for the ?warmer? climate of DC. Webb grew up in the area and maybe prefers home cookin?. Why Scotty boy? As you say ? the mysteries of life.? You know how when you make a deal with the devil, you have success but you then have to turn around and give your soul to the devil?
