Numerous sources, including wikipedia, say he ran the NY Marathon in 1999.

I checked the NY Marathon's website to verify this and I found a David Paterson of NY did run the marathon in 6:06:00 in 1999.
HOWEVER
This runner missed the mats at:
5k, 10k, 15k, 20k, the half, 25k, 30k, 20m, 35k and 40k.
Something is VERY fishy about this.
Undoubtedly he ran w/ Achilles program for disabled runners. Many of them start early, so it's possible the mats were not in place/activated when he passed over them. He may also have forgotten his Chip, and the time he was given was a gun time.

Actually, if you look at results for any runner from that period, they don't give full splits.
for the leaders, they give 10k, half marathon, etc. , further back they give nothing.
i'm guessing they didn't use the chip timing in 1999 (don't know what year they started using it) and thus this post has been a great troll attempt.

Actually that's not true. Type in David Johnson. You'll see he has 10k half and 20 mile splits from the same year.
But Patterson is blind so perhaps he didn't have a chip on or started early.
Ha ha. Wouldn't cheating one's way to a 6:06 marathon be the equivalent of sleeping one's way all the way up the corporate ladder to the position of receptionist?
Assuming he ran with Achilles, I wonder how many diamonds his running partner merited?
