So I'm riding my bike to school this morning. There is a pedestrian crosswalk with a traffic light (note - this is not an intersection, just a light that makes cars stop so pedestrians can cross). I see the light is red, and the cars next to me are stopped, but there is no one in the cross walk, so I keep on riding.
2 seconds later a cop on a motorcycle pulls me over. (Note - I was wearing a helmet, not going excessively fast, and was riding on the correct side of the road). He asks me for ID and I ask if I've done anything wrong. He says "you ran a red light."
I expect that he is writing me a warning..... wrong.
$20 ticket. BAM.
Question:
Pay the tickets, and swallow my pride, OR
Appeal the ticket, go to "court" (or whatever administrative proceeding they have), hope the cop doesn't show and try to get it dismissed?
