i am so happy for andrew, esp bc he seems so happy. he had a rough year last year and it looks like he had a great race today. the wind maybe kept the times slow, but maybe andrew should think about moving up in distance on the track. he did a lot of 5s last year, maybe the 10 is it. i hope knocks one out of the park at stanford this spring. funniest dude on flotrack too.
Andrew Carlson!!! SWEET!! Really good to see him doing so well.
How long in front of the men did the women start?
Did Deena Kastor almost catch the men at the finish, or was I seeing things?
they women start 5 minutes ahead of the men, so they caught her.
I want to say they got an eight or nine minute start.
Way to go Dan Browne!!!!

That must be it.
from the bunch at the finish it looked like a sit and kick affair. couldnt see the finish clock in that video, what did they run?
That video is a statement to the difference between men’s and women’s distance/road running in the US right now. The head start the race gave seems to be right on with Deena coming in just behind the guys winners but then about 15 plus guys come across the line with only Katie McGregor to break them up. The women right now are arguable better up front then the men, Deena Olympic bronze, Chicago and London champ, Goucher's medal at wc's and Flanagans times last year in the 3k/5k but the depth just doesn't exist.
looks like carlson won in 44:11. i think the wind made it slow. deena was about 2 minutes slower than last year, i think. the women started 5 min. ahead of men. there was a $5k equalizer bonus that carlson won.

NICE RUN AC !!!!!!!

It is interesting that you pick this race, which in my opinion is a really weak field running fairly poorly on the mens side, to illustrate the american men's depth. 45 minutes for the 5th american is not too good. when is the last time this race was won this slowly? and on a day when it is 50 degrees, usually more like 70 on race day.
