I'm going to be opening up my outdoor season with a 3000 around late april/early may. I was wondering if breaking 8:40 is a possibility. Last year I oppened up with a 9:15 after running 4:10 indoors for the 1500 (1:59 high for the 800). I ran three roadraces leading up to it 5k-10k-5k in 17:08, 36:52 (reduced to walking at some points), and 17:01. This year indoor I have run 4:05 and 1:58 mid. I will do three roadraces again (probably 3 5ks). I've been running 35 mpw all indoor season and am going to bump it up starting monday (finishing my break in between seasons) to about 40 mpw, and then increase it to 55mpw all the way up until mid may. Last year due to an operation I took 2 weeks off after indor, but was running 40-45 mpw for a while prior.
