Now I know he went and trained in Arizona this winter, presumably at some moderate to high altitude, and I think the plan him and Schumacher had was to increase his peak mileage each year by about 5 miles/week, bringing him to about 100 miles/week for his peak mileage in his base training. His first known(at last to me) race/time trial on the track(indoor) was at the u.s. indoor 3k champs where he won, outkicking Solinsky who had reportedly(as he said on flocast) been doing more quick intervals than Tegenkamp, so I'm just wondering what kind of shape Tegenkamp is possibly rounding into and how well this training is going to stimulate some improvement in his running and racing ability. He definitely showed last year that he has the wheels to sprint with some of the best, I'm thinking of that last 200 meters in the world 5000m final, plus he has run a 3:34.25 1500m, which is faster than Rob Myers 1500m PR I believe. Is anyone smelling a sub-13 5k American performance other than Lagat this summer, or is that just hopeful, I-have-nothing-better-to-do-but-sit-in-my-classroom-and-speculate American wishing?
